A dental implant replaces a missing tooth at the root — a small titanium post is placed in the jawbone where it fuses (osseointegrates) with the bone over 3–4 months, then a custom crown is attached on top. The result looks, feels, and functions like a natural tooth, with no impact on neighboring teeth.

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a small biocompatible titanium post that replaces the root of a missing tooth. The post is placed into the jawbone, where bone cells grow around and bond to it — a process called osseointegration. Once integrated, it acts as a permanent anchor for a custom crown, a multi-tooth bridge, or a full-arch prosthesis. The titanium post stays under the gum; what you see and chew with is the crown bonded on top.

Benefits at a glance

  • Looks and feels natural — color, shape, and bite match a real tooth.
  • Preserves bone — the post stimulates the jawbone the same way a real root does, so the jawline doesn’t shrink.
  • Full chewing force — eat what you want, no soft-food restrictions.
  • Stays put — no slipping, clicking, or adhesive paste.
  • Protects neighboring teeth — no grinding down healthy enamel to anchor a bridge.
  • Easy to clean — brush and floss like a natural tooth.

Implant options we offer

  • Single tooth implant — one missing tooth, one implant, one crown.
  • Multi-tooth implant bridge — two or more adjacent missing teeth, supported by two implants instead of grinding down healthy neighbors.
  • Full-arch (All-on-4 / All-on-6 style) — replace an entire upper or lower arch on as few as 4–6 implants, often in a single surgical day.
  • Bone grafting — when long-term tooth loss has left thin bone, we rebuild the site so an implant can be placed.

The treatment timeline

  1. Consultation + 3D scan. We confirm bone volume, check medical history, and design the placement digitally.
  2. Implant placement. A 60–90 minute outpatient surgical visit under local anesthesia (sedation available).
  3. Healing phase. 3–4 months for the implant to fuse with bone. You wear a temporary if it’s a visible tooth.
  4. Final crown. We seat the custom crown and verify the bite. Done.

Why choose implants over bridges or dentures

  • The neighboring teeth stay untouched — no grinding down healthy enamel to anchor a bridge.
  • Bone is preserved at the implant site. Bridges and dentures don’t stimulate bone, so it shrinks over time and changes the shape of the lower face.
  • Implants don’t slip, click, or restrict what you can eat the way removable dentures can.
  • Speech stays clear — no whistling or lisping from a removable appliance.
  • Cleaning is the same as a natural tooth: brush, floss, done. No nightly soaking, no adhesive.

Cost and financing

A single-tooth implant is $2,600 total$1,000 for the titanium post that goes in the bone and $1,600 for the connector and crown that sit on top.

When you’re missing more than one tooth:

  • Two missing teeth in a row. A bridge on a pair of implants runs roughly $5,000–$7,000.
  • A whole row of missing teeth, snap-in option. A denture that clicks onto two implants runs about $3,500 per arch. Add two more implants for better stability and it’s $8,000–$9,500 per arch.
  • A whole row of missing teeth, fixed option. A permanent bridge on four to six implants — what people often call All-on-4 or All-on-6 — runs $18,000–$22,000 per arch.

Per-tooth cost drops as more teeth are restored on the same case.

Some patients need extra prep work, priced separately: about $600 for a bone graft (when the jawbone is too thin to hold an implant), $700 for a sinus lift (when an upper back implant needs more space), and a 3D scan at the consultation.

You get a written estimate before any work starts, and we walk through payment plans so the bill can be spread over months instead of one upfront cost. Most insurance doesn’t cover the implant itself but often contributes toward the crown — bring your card and we’ll verify benefits in about 60 seconds.

Long-term value. Bridges typically need replacing every 7–10 years, and removable dentures are relined or remade on a similar cycle. A well-cared-for implant routinely lasts 25 years or longer — over that window, the one-time cost is often less than repeatedly rebuilding a bridge or denture.

Common questions

Frequently asked about Dental Implants

  • How long do dental implants last?
With good oral hygiene and regular dental visits, a properly placed dental implant can last 25 years to a lifetime. The titanium post fuses with the jawbone (osseointegration), which is what makes implants the most durable tooth replacement available.
  • Is the procedure painful?
The implant is placed under local anesthesia, so the surgery itself is not painful. Most patients describe the recovery as milder than a tooth extraction — over-the-counter pain relievers and ice handle the first 24–72 hours of swelling. Sedation is available if you'd rather be more relaxed during placement.
  • Am I a candidate for implants?
Most adults with healthy gums and enough jawbone are candidates. We assess bone density with a 3D CBCT scan. If bone is thin from long-term tooth loss, a bone graft can rebuild the site before implant placement.
  • How long does the whole process take?
From the first consultation to the final crown is typically three to six months. The implant is placed in a single surgical visit; the months in between let the bone fuse with the implant before we attach the final crown.
  • What is the success rate of dental implants?
Modern dental implants have a success rate of about 95–98% in healthy adults — among the highest in restorative dentistry. Success depends on healthy gums, adequate bone, and following post-op care; smoking and uncontrolled diabetes lower the odds.
